A novel and interactive dinnerware collection centerpiece to enjoy a balanced Indian meal
Equi is a dinnerware collection centerpiece for the home where groups of four people or more can participate in a ritualistic and novel experience that provides a sense of balance and promotes conviviality. Equi innately eliminates the need for wasteful disposable flatware with its focus on using reusable dishes and your hands to enjoy a meal with others.
The collection celebrates traditional eating gestures that have been looked down upon for centuries. With the elimination of cutlery, Equi encourages users to use their hands which provides them with a more meaningful eating experience.
Exploring this ritualistic experience and understanding this movement of the hand, helped shape Equi. In a fast paced, technologically advanced time like this, I want to urge people to take a step backwards to something more simple and ritualistic, exploring the traditional Indian way of eating by hand. Each piece in the collection is connected to another and requires users to come together and participate in separating the pieces for usage. This movement and choreography engages users and pushes them to co-ordinate and communicate with each other re-enforcing the idea that in order to achieve balance co-ordination between two or more energies is needed.
