An ergonomic pepper grinder

Inspired by tall engraved columns in ancient Roman monuments and temples, Torcere takes you back in time with its rounded design and earth tones. Every bit of this eco-friendly pepper grinder symbolizes the ‘art of simple living’, not to mention its easy to grip shape. Torcere is a ‘must-have’ for every home, kitchen, or restaurant.

In collaboration with Joachim Perez, Matteo Rapaglia and Bo Kim

Brief : The brief for this project was to redesign a pepper grinder to make it more ergonomic.

Process : In teams of four, we conducted extensive research and designed eight unique prototypes. We then got different users in the food industry and individuals at home to test these prototypes. Based on the user feedback, we combined the strongest elements into one design to create the final shape. This designed can be gripped in different ways depending on individual preferences and would be manufactured in bamboo which makes it more sustainable than its competitors.
